Air Conditioning Installation & Servicing in Burgess Hill
Mid Sussex summers are getting warmer, and an open window and a desk fan can only do so much once a room really heats up. We've added air conditioning installation to what we do, fitting single-room and multi-room systems for homes and small businesses across Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Hassocks and the surrounding area.
It's the same engineers you'd already call for a boiler, now REFCOM registered and F-Gas qualified to install and service air conditioning as well. Tell us about the rooms you want cooled and we'll size the system to suit, not the other way round.

Why Choose B.Cooke Plumbing & Heating for Your Air Conditioning Installation?
Letting an engineer run pipework through your home and mount units on your walls is a bigger decision than picking a fan up in a shop, which is where it helps that we're not a name you're meeting for the first time. We've been fitting heating and plumbing across Burgess Hill and West Sussex for over 12 years, and we're now REFCOM registered and F-Gas qualified to bring that same team to air conditioning.
You get one quote, fixed before we start, so the number on installation day matches what you were told at the start. Pipework and cables go into trunking rather than sitting exposed across the wall, and if you need an outside power point, we bring in an electrician we already work with to sort it as part of the job. We don't disappear once it's switched on either, servicing stays available afterwards from the same local team.
Types of Air Conditioning Systems We Install
Two setups cover most homes: one room properly cooled, or several rooms run from a single outdoor unit.
Single-Room Split
One indoor unit, one outdoor unit, sized for wherever needs it most, bedroom, home office, whichever room gets unbearable first. Most single-room jobs are in and working within a day.
£1,800 to £3,000, fully fitted
Multi-Split (2+ Rooms)
A single outdoor unit feeds two or more indoor units, so cooling several rooms doesn't mean a row of condenser boxes down the side of the house. There's more pipework to route (tucked into trunking, or chased into the wall where that's neater) and the outdoor unit needs a heavier electrical supply than a single-room setup, which is why multi-split jobs run 1-3 days rather than one.
£3,000 to £8,000, fully fitted
What you actually pay comes down to the room, the wall it's going on, and how far the pipework has to travel, and we'll lock that into a fixed number before anything starts. If one room genuinely covers what you need, that's the quote you get. We won't put you into a multi-split you don't need.
From quote to cool room - Air conditioning installation process
1
Request a quote
Tell us about your property and which rooms need cooling.
2
Home Assessment
We come out, check the room, and work out the unit size and where the pipework needs to run.
3
Fixed price quote
One clear number before anything's booked in. Nothing changes once we're on site.
4
Installation day
Tidy install by our team, usually wrapped up in a day for one room, or 1-3 days for multi-split.
Every unit we fit carries a manufacturer warranty, and we'll walk you through exactly what applies to yours as part of the quote
We're still around after that too, for servicing, repairs, and anything else that comes up.
Air Conditioning Maintenance and Aftercare
Getting the install right is only half of it. Keeping it running well afterwards is the other half:

Annual Service Plans
A yearly service catches the small stuff, a dirty filter, a refrigerant reading starting to drift, before it turns into a breakdown. It's also usually the condition that keeps your manufacturer warranty valid.

Emergency Repair Services
Stopped cooling, dripping, or making a noise it shouldn't? Same local response you'd already expect if you called us about a boiler.

Extended Warranties
Standard cover from the manufacturer runs 2-3 years. Register the system and keep up the annual service, and on some brands that extends to 5 years or more. We'll confirm exactly what your unit qualifies for at quote stage.

Performance Tips
Between services, a clean filter every few weeks and keeping leaves and debris off the outdoor unit make a real difference. Anything past that, especially anything touching the refrigerant, needs a qualified engineer. It's not a DIY job, and by law it's not meant to be one.
Keep it serviced and it'll run cheaper as well as last longer. Fit it with us and that servicing stays with the same team who installed it, not a call centre.
Why Choose Modern Air Conditioning?
Worth knowing before you write it off as three weeks of the year:
1
Efficient Cooling and Heating
Modern units run as reversible heat pumps, cooling the room in summer and heating it efficiently in winter, useful as backup if your boiler ever goes down.
2
Lower Running Costs Than You'd Think
Inverter systems use noticeably less electricity than older fixed-speed units, and in heating mode a well-run system can cost roughly the same as, or less than, a gas boiler per hour, depending on current energy prices.
3
Quiet, Steady Comfort
No fan noise, no hot air just getting pushed around. Inverter units hold a steady temperature without the noise and swings of older on/off systems.
4
Long Service Life
Installed properly and kept serviced, a system typically lasts 12-20 years.
5
Lower Environmental Impact
Modern units run on R32 refrigerant, with a lower global warming potential than the gases older AC systems used.
Smart & Efficient Air Conditioning
The air conditioning systems we fit don't just switch between "off" and "full blast." Inverter technology lets the compressor run at whatever speed the room actually needs rather than one fixed setting, which typically uses 30-50% less electricity than an older fixed-speed unit doing the same job. They're also charged with R32 refrigerant, a lower-impact gas than what older AC systems run on.
A few features worth knowing about:
-
WiFi and app control, so you can turn the temperature down before you've even left work
-
Scheduling and timers, so it's not running when nobody's home
-
Inverter technology for steady, quiet cooling rather than the unit cycling on and off
-
Reverse-cycle heating, so the same unit that cools the room in July can heat it efficiently in January
Which setup actually suits you depends on how you use the room, not what's on a spec sheet, and that's the conversation we'll have with you rather than just selling the biggest unit. We're bringing the standard we've built over 12+ years on boilers and heating to air conditioning too, now backed by F-Gas qualified training specific to fitting it.
We fit a small, growing range of brands: Mitsubishi, Daikin, Midea and Bosch right now, with more being added as we go.
Mitsubishi and Daikin lead on long-term reliability and quiet running for both wall-mounted and multi-split air conditioner installations.
Midea offers strong value with fast-improving build quality. Bosch rounds out the range with solid mid-range performance and a competitive warranty.
Whichever brand fits your budget and your room, we'll size and fit it properly.
